Obsidian Hunting

Last Wednesday Mark had the day off, and for those of you who know Mark you won't be surprised that he wanted to go look for obsidian. He found a website that showed the locations of places you could collect obsidian, and one of the best in the Western U.S. just so happens to be 2 hours from our house. This is a picture of the ground there. Every black rock you see in this picture is obsidian. CRAZY!!!

We left because it started to get too windy. Then we almost got lost in the sand storm. Thank goodness for the markers on the side of the road. We could only go 5 mph, or we would loose the road.
Looking back at what we had just driven through.

I think there is now a sand dune on top of the obsidian.

For the Short time that we were there we had some pretty good luck. I have never seen such big pieces of obsidian. It should take Mark a while to chip all this.

New Church Clothes

Dayler was outgrowing his old church clothes, so I pulled this out of the closet. I found them on sale just after Christmas, I thought that it would take a little longer for him to fit into them. He loves his snazy clothes so much we had to take a picture after church.

Snow Day

Dayler doesn't like his waterproof Mittens.
Bowen and Dayler

AWE!

We found out that there was only a few inches of snow under the trees compared to 7-10 inches everywhere else.
So we get told all the time you are so lucky you live by St. George. You don't have to worry about the snow. Just because we go grocery shopping in St. George doesn't mean we don't have to worry about the snow. It snowed all but one day last week, and this week it is melting. I have never seen so much mud.

Fort Deseret

I don't know how many times we have driven by Fort Deseret on our way to or from Tooele, but this last trip we decided to stop. I thought that it was pretty cool that the mud and straw wall is still standing from over 100 years ago.

By the time Bowen and I caught up to Mark and Dayler inside the fort, Dayler was an expert on the fort. "Mommy the cowboys built this fort to keep the Indians out. They would look out those holes and say Oh my gosh there's Indians out there."
Mark and the Boys inside the fort walking toward one of the bastions.
Practicing. Shooting Coyotes of course. What were you thinking?

Yep, people were shorter then.

Happy Anniversary

Did I ever mention that I am married to the best guy in the entire world!?! Well it is true. He is my best friend. When my little brother was thinking about getting married he asked me how I knew that Mark was the one. I told him that I just couldn't imagine life without him. Still true today. As of the 19th we have been married for five WONDERFUL years. To celebrate our anniversary we went to the Forgotten Carols. I had so much fun. I think that we were snuggled up closer than any one else in the room.
I don't know how many of you know this, but we were set up on a blind date. I was complaining about boys to Allison at church, and she said "I know the perfect guy for you." Boy was she right. She asked if she could give him my number, and I agreed. He called and left a message, I called him back, but didn't leave a message, and his phone didn't show that I called. So he wasn't going to try again, because he didn't think I called him back. His roommate DJ told him "She could be you future wife, but you will never know unless you call her." He called, and we hit it off from the very first date. I still get the butterflies when he touches me. He knows that when I am mad at him all he has to do is kiss me and he is forgiven. I can go on and on about all the wonderful things that Mark does and is, but I think I will summarize by saying he is the very best husband and the best dad. I couldn't have done better if I had made him myself. I love you Mark, and THANK YOU! DJ and Allison.
