Last Wednesday Mark had the day off, and for those of you who know Mark you won't be surprised that he wanted to go look for obsidian. He found a website that showed the locations of places you could collect obsidian, and one of the best in the Western U.S. just so happens to be 2 hours from our house. This is a picture of the ground there. Every black rock you see in this picture is obsidian. CRAZY!!!

We left because it started to get too windy. Then we
almost got lost in the sand storm. Thank goodness for the markers on the side of the road. We could only go 5 mph, or we would loose the road.

Looking back at what we had just driven through.

I think there is now a sand dune on top of the obsidian.

For the Short time that we were there we had some pretty good luck. I have never seen such big pieces of obsidian. It should take Mark a while to chip all this.
