I don't know how many times we have driven by Fort Deseret on our way to or from Tooele, but this last trip we decided to stop. I thought that it was pretty cool that the mud and straw wall is still standing from over 100 years ago.
By the time Bowen and I caught up to Mark and Dayler inside the fort, Dayler was an expert on the fort. "Mommy the cowboys built this fort to keep the Indians out. They would look out those holes and say Oh my gosh there's Indians out there." Mark and the Boys inside the fort walking toward one of the bastions.
Practicing. Shooting Coyotes of course. What were you thinking?
I've never been there! I didn't even know it was there, although I think I've only been to Toole once. I have been to a couple of the other forts on the drive from AZ. I always enjoy them. I'll have to make a point to visit this one next time I'm in SLC.
Anyway, thanks for stopping by my YW blog. I'm really glad you liked the FHE in a jar. I think they turned out pretty cute and a lot of the treats looked really good. Let me know how it all turns out! And if you ever have any activity/lesson ideas you think are fabulous, feel free to send them our way and we'll post them and give you credit.
Daddy Ekins (Mark) is an avid hunter. He hunts anything that is legal, and if that is not enough he has started trapping too. He works for the state as a Conservation Officer (fish cop, game warden) and he loves his job. What else could he do that would get him out so much.
Dayler is getting big. He is three years old going on 16. He already tries to manipulate people into doing what he wants to do, and since he is so darn cute it usually works. He is now into Spider-Man, Iron Man, or any other action figure that I will allow him to watch. He is very stubborn, even more than his Mom.
Bowen is 2 years old now. He doesn't walk anywhere, he runs now full speed ahead. He loves trains, especially Tomas and friends. He runs around the house saying toot toot.
Bently is our newest edition. He is just 2 months old, and loves to be held. This is a good thing, because his big brothers love to hold him.
Mommy (Megan) is always trying to keep up with all four of her boys. She has a calling in the Young Womens and stays really busy with that. She stays at home and tries to clean the house, but fails misserably.

I have lived here my whole life and never stopped. I really need to get out more! I think my kids would like to see that place too!
