On Wed the 23rd I got up early to take Bowen to the pediatricians office to get a small little opperation that only boys can get. Anyway Mark took care of Dayler while I was gone. Later that day I was doing the dishes and I happened to glance into our front room, and this is what I saw. I thought it was funny!!
It was just the day before when I overheard Mark talking to a friend on the phone. He was telling him how hard it was to do what their wives do. This was just after one day of helping me out.

Bowen Kay Ekins

This morning 04/19/2008 we had our second son, Bowen Kay Ekins. Bowen weighed 7lb's 1oz, and was 20 inches long. I (Mark) took these pics of Megan and Bowen 2-3 minutes after delivery!!!!! They are both doing great. Infact Megan is planning on us going home this afternoon. She is awesome! Bowen was born on his due date just like his brother Dayler.

Angel's Landing

A few weeks ago my sisters friend wanted to hike Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, so I asked if I could go. Mark had to work, so Laura was kind enough to pack Dayler for me. My mom was worried about me going along so close to my due date, and Dayler being so small that she came too.

Dayler made it half way to the top on his own, then Laura packed him the rest of the way up, then back down. He loved it. Mom!? Yes Dayler? We're hiking!? Yep we are hiking. (5min later) Mom!? Yes Dayler?...

While Dayler was hiking every one that passed us on the trail was amazed how far he had hiked 2miles uphill. Then Dayler would give them all high fives. My little man takes after his Dad when it comes to hiking.

Laura thought that is was funny the way people would look at me, but an extra 30 lbs of baby is nothing compared to the 45 lbs of ropes and other canyoneering gear that we are used to packing.

For those of you who don't know about Angel's Landing it is a 4 mile hike up to the top (that is as far as we went), then another .5 miles out to the point (using chains to stay on the cliff). Dayler will have to wait about 9 years before I will let him do the last .5 miles. It is the most popular hike in Zion because of the view from the top.

It was a lot of fun!!!!

The Ekins Pack

Snow Canyon State Park

We had a little pre easter party with my family at Snow Canyon. I know I'm a little behind on updating the blog. Anyway, Dayler had tons of fun burying his cousin Kaydon. We also had an easter egg hunt, and Mark and Melanies new baby was dressed up as a cute little easter bunny. Mark, my Dad, and brothers made a skee ball game on the dunes. They had tons of fun, and got a lot of funny looks.
