Picture Time

Mark took the boys pictures in the basement. I think they turned out pretty good.

Wild Turkeys

Mark had to catch and release some wild turkeys for his job, so he took his own truck and let the family come along. This was just before Bently was born, but I had to post these cool pics.

That Darn Cord!!!

At my 20 week check-up with Bently we found out that the umbilical cord only had 2 vessels (one vein, one artery) instead of three (one vein two arteries). That meant that as Bently got bigger he might not get the nutrients that he needed to continue to grow, or worse case scenario live. I went to the doctors a lot more than normal, and had a ton of ultrasounds after this was found. Every thing always looked good, so my doctor decided to only start me one week early. He was scheduled to arrive on the 16th.

On Sunday the 7th about one hour after we had gotten home from church my water broke, so we called Grandma and Grandpa and had them meet us at the hospital. At the hospital I had started having contractions, but they weren't very strong so I was putt on Pitocyn. My contractions were just starting to hurt when the nurse came in and said I don't like what your babies heart beat is doing when you have your contractions. She said she was going to check to see what I was dialated to. She found something, but didn't know what it was, so she called in another nurse for a second opinion. Neither one knew what it was, they thought umbilical cord, but it didn't have a pulse. Then I had a contraction and the babies heart beat stopped. The nurses made me get on my knees and putt my head down. The contraction ended, and the baby came back nice and strong.

The next thing I knew there were five or six nurses in the room, and they were in a huge rush. One was on the phone with the doctor, another with the anesthesiologist, one was unplugging the bed, another handing Mark scrubs to putt on, and two more prepping me for a c-section. I knew what was happening, but it was still scary. The anesthesiologist came and told me that he was going to give me an epidural laying down, so it would take him a little longer than normal. They wheeled me down the hall, and told Mark that he could come in as soon as the Epidural was in. I hear the Doctor say "What is faster the epidural or putt her out?" They putt me out, and had a nurse open the door and tell Mark We had to putt her on general, so you can't come in. She shut the door and left Mark their to worry. Luckily he had given me a blessing before we went to the hospital, so he knew everything would be ok. After what seemed like forever (At the most 5 min) Mark and my Mom heard the baby cry. An hour later I start to wake up to a nurse telling me that everything went well, and the baby is just fine. He is with his Dad.

The Nurses were right when they thought they felt the cord. After my water broke the cord dropped, then the baby dropped. Every time I had a contraction the babies head pinched the cord. That DARN CORD caused us problems for 17 weeks, but Bently Hill Ekins is here, and he is perfect. At least his Mommy, Daddy, and big brothers think so.
Sorry about the delay. I wrote this a few weeks ago, but had a problem with a virus. Baby Bently was born on March 7th at 8:28 pm he weighed 6lbs 6oz and was 19 inches long.

Mustache?

Dayler sometimes says some pretty funny things. The other day he was going to the bathroom, and he got really excited. "Mommy! My weenie mustache has two balls in it!" Your what? Yep I had heard him right, I don't know where he came up with it,but I will never be able to look at a mustache in the same way again.

I Don't Want A Pillow

I let Dayler and Bowen watch a movie on Dayler's bed a few nights ago, and Dayler refused to use his pillow. He threw it on the floor when I gave it to him. After a while I went in to check on them. Dayler found a different pillow.

More pics of the house!

These pics were taken a few months ago, but I wanted to show some of the work that we have done.

Mark gutted the entire house. Then his Dad came and helped us from there. We had a ton of help from other family members too. Thanks everyone for helping us paint. We were finishing up the big stuff when the carpet layers were just getting started. Not shown in the pics is the new paint job. We also refinished all of the cabinants. We still have some touch up work to do, but it is now comming slowly because we are living in it. I love my new house.

Third Annual Griffiths Reunion

On June 5th we started our family reunion by going four wheeling at Three Peaks Recreational Area. After that the out of towners spent the night and Saturday we had a luncheon with the Barneys, went to Mari's baptism, then headed to mesquite for some swimming. We stayed the night in Mesquite, and bright and early in the morning went to the blessing of Qune and Quad. Did I mention Brett and Shauna had babies number 4 and 5. Yes their oldest is younger than Dayler. We took a family pic, then headed to the park for tons of fun!!! Sorry I forgot to rotate the pics, I was in a hurry.

Before the Move.

Mark used some of the obsidian rocks that we picked up. I think he is pretty good at chipping arrowheads.

Yes, it snowed in April. I took this picture after 5 min, and it kept snowing for a half hour.

Bowen likes to eat the dirt from the plant.

Bowen's First Birthday Party

It is a tradition in our family to have a lamb cake for your first Birthday. Bowen just wanted to get back to the water. We had his party at a park in Washington. It was pretty sweet with a nice playground and a water pad. When it came to opening presents we had to show him there was something cool underneath the pretty paper. Bowen and Dayler had tons of fun with their cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents. Thanks every one for coming.

We Bought A House!!!

We actually closed on the house on the 6th, but then we went to Tooele for an early Easter celebration. It is a fixer upper, so we have been busy with that, plus we had a few things keeping us busy. Easter, births, birthday's (Bowen's first), and Dad's heart attack. He is doing good now. Any way here are a few pics of the house, we didn't get one of the Master bedroom (coral pink), or the kitchen with the worst linoleum I have ever seen.

Kane County with Rylie

My cute niece Rylie (pictured below) had to do a report on Kane County, so since they were down for a visit we went with them. She decided she wanted Zion canyon since the east side is in the county, and Kanab aka Little Hollywood.

We started out hiking just to the lower emerald pools, but the kids didn't want to stop, so we made the big loop to all three pools.

I knew that there were a few movies that were filmed in Kanab, but I had no idea it wasn't just a few. Rylie had a huge long list of movies filmed there.

Nashville Tribute Band

Way back on March 20th we went to see the Nashville Tribute Band at Tuachan with Mark's parents, Doug, and Kami. The kids had a blast with the baby sitters and their cousins. If you have never heard this band you should look them up. So far they have two CD's. A truibute to the Prophet Joseph, and a tribute to the Trek. It was a lot of fun!
